WHO ARE WE

OUR TEAM

The Popeye and Captain Jolleys Paddle Boats are a small family run business currently owned privately by the Shuman family. Tony and Lidija Shuman purchased The Popeye fleet in April of 2011 after nearly 20 years on the riverbank.  Tony’s association with the River Torrens dates back to the previous generation.  His father, John Shuman worked as a carpenter on the restaurant by the weir.  Tony and Lidija purchased the River Torrens Paddle Boats in 1991 soon after  commencing managing a  roller blade and bike hire business.

We vary between 12-15 employees throughout the year, some staff staying for 20+ years and others staying for a summer. What we all share in common is a love for the outdoors, a love for our great state South Australia and a need to share it in the best way we know how.

CAREERS

the-popeye-adelaide-logo-retina

Popeye employs Skippers and Deckhands/Bartenders. Everyone employed on board needs to have their First Aid Training and an RSA certificate. The minimum qualification for a skipper is Coxswains however we look favourably upon higher accreditation.

We are currently on the search for a casual Captain as well as Deckhands/Bartenders.

Please email us at info@thepopeye.com.au with a copy of your resume and a cover letter letting us know why you’re the best person for the job! Better yet, swing by the office during our office hours and come say hello.

PADDLE BOATS

Captain Jolleys Paddle Boats are currently on the look out for friendly, active staff who love the outdoors. If you have availability over the weekends and during the week in school holidays send a resume over to paddle@captainjolleys.com.au and let us know why you’d make a fantastic paddle boat attendant!
